An Italian-Inspired Celebration at The Maples Woodlands

Published in Destination I Do

OCTOBER 2024

There is something undeniably romantic about Italian-inspired weddings — the warm tones, layered textures, old-world charm, and that effortless balance of refinement and ease. When I was invited to provide stationery for this stunning styled shoot at The Maples Woodlands, I knew it would be a beautiful opportunity to bring that European elegance to life through paper.

Nestled among sweeping greenery and timeless architecture, The Maples Woodlands created the perfect backdrop for a design inspired by the Italian countryside. The vision was modern yet classic — think sun-washed neutrals, aged stone textures, decedent florals, and thoughtful details that felt both luxurious and organic.

The Stationery Concept

For this shoot, I wanted the paper suite to feel as though it belonged on a long Tuscan dining table, tucked beneath olive branches and Cyprus trees. The invitation suite featured:

  • Modern typography pairing for a modern European feel full of white space to convey ease

  • A neutral color palette accented with earthy undertones to feel luxurious

  • Custom Italian artwork carried though the invitation suite to the wedding day paper.

  • An inviting envelop liner for designation guests.

Rather than overwhelming the design, the stationery was meant to ooze luxury and ease. The typography carried the story — refined, intentional, and bold. Each element was carefully considered to complement the overall aesthetic without competing with the florals, table scape, or architecture.

Drawing Inspiration from Italy

Italian weddings are known for their intimacy and intentionality. They embrace beauty in simplicity — long alfresco dinners, meaningful conversation, and details that feel collected rather than curated. That philosophy guided my approach.

I leaned into:

  • Clean layouts with generous white space

  • Soft, natural textures that added dimension without excess

The result was a suite that felt transportive — romantic yet contemporary, classic yet fresh.

The Beauty of Collaboration

Styled shoots are always a labor of love, and this one was no exception. Seeing the paper details layered alongside lush florals, elegant fashion, and the architectural charm of the venue was incredibly rewarding.

All photos shot by the incredible Katelyn Bradley Kettman. A true visionary in Italy and state side when it comes wedding photography.

Every creative partner brought intention to the table, and together we created something that felt cohesive and editorial.

Having this shoot published in Destination I Do was such an honor. It’s always meaningful to see your work recognized, but even more special when it represents collaboration, vision, and artistry at such a high level.

Why Italian-Inspired Designs Are Elite.

Italian-inspired weddings continue to resonate because they focus on experience. They prioritize atmosphere, texture, connection and emotion. As a stationery designer, my goal is always to create paper goods that don’t just inform — they set the tone.

This shoot was a reminder that timeless design doesn’t shout. It invites. It lingers. It tells a story before the celebration even begins. This tone is carried though the beginning of your wedding, though your wedding day paper. Your stationery is the brand of your wedding!

If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels romantic, textural, and effortlessly elegant with Italian-inspired details — starting with your stationery — are the perfect place to begin.
