OCTOBER 2025
There is something undeniably powerful about leaning into color — especially bold colors.
When I was invited to design the stationery for this styled shoot at Oceans Gardens in Boulder, the theme was clear: Bold Romance
Not soft blush. Not muted neutrals. But rich chocolate brown, vibrant citrus orange, and glowing yellow. It was romantic — but with depth.
Confident & Elegant

The Inspiration Behind Bold Romance
October in Colorado has a distinct magic. The air is crisp, the sun is still warm, and everything feels a familarly with a hint of change in the ari.
Instead of the typical fall palette of rust and burgundy, this shoot embraced contrast:
Deep chocolate brown
Punchy citrus orange
Vivid yellow
Romance doesn’t have to mean pale and delicate. It can be saturated. It can be moody. It can be bold.
Designing the Stationery Suite
For this concept, I wanted the paper to feel intentional and sculputual. The foundation of the suite was a bright white paper, with orange color blocks designed to flow together when all elements are stacked together.
Design details included:
Modern serif & san-serif font pairing.
Clean white space to balance the vibrant palette
Color-blocked contrasting details
The result was a suite that felt romantic, but in a strong, confident way.
Color as Feeling
Color sets the tone before guests ever step into a space. In this shoot, the stationery established that tone immediately.
The feeling you get opening an invitation suite before the event, starts the excitement and dreaming of celebrating the special day, in a stunning outfit.
The feeling I wanted to convey in this suite was, ooh thats interesting! (iykyk)
The orange brought energy and spontaneity. The yellow introduced something light and familiary, with the chocolate brown anchoring the suite to the full shoot.
Why Bold Works for Fall Weddings
At Oceans Gardens, the combination of rich color and thoughtful design nestled into a villa, created a space that felt like stepping into the pages of a of a familiar, yet different wedding. One that you will remember forever!
This shoot was a reminder that stationery isn’t just paper. It’s the first impression, the emotional prelude, it is where the story begins.
If you’re dreaming of a wedding that feels romantic but refuses to blend in, don’t be afraid of bold color and modernized fonts and layouts.
When done with intention, it’s unforgettable.
